Owned by the Dermody family, The Tennis Shop grew out of a simple problem: where can someone get a good pair of tennis shoes? We opened The Tennis Shop because Madison deserves a tennis store that offers a wide selection of all things tennis: racquets, shoes, apparel, accessories, and stringing. But we are also here to support and grow tennis in the community. The Madison area has great clubs, great teachers and classes, and lots of public courts, and now The Tennis Shop helps bring that all together. Our vision is for The Tennis Shop to be a resource for all things tennis.

Peter Dermody - Owner
A local product, Peter played tennis at Madison West High School. He has taught tennis in Madison since 2004, working at local summer clubs as well as with various GMTA programs. He is currently the girl's varsity tennis coach at Madison West High School, and was the boy's varsity coach at Monona Grove High School in 2006 and 2007.

Bill Dermody - Owner
A long-time resident of Madison, Bill discovered tennis in his twenties, and really took up the game later in life. His game may be average, but passion is high. Tennis is a great thing that father-and-son have been able to share over the years, both playing (Peter chases down all the lobs) and attending (see photos from the US Open and the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch on the right).

Sarah Dermody - Supporter of Owners
Sarah grew up playing tennis but gave it up in her late twenties due to general lack of skill. She is, however, a help around the store for gracing the racks with clothes and accessories.
